TOPOGRAPHIC MAP INTERPRETATION PROJECT
GEOGRAPHY 137
The attached outline consists of a detailed listing of a variety of topics that we have, or soon will, discuss
in Geography 137. Your task is to locate detailed information about the region covered by your topographic
map as it relates to the outline below. Copy (or retype) the outline to a new document and fill in the
information as you collect it. Carefully mark on your map the profile lines, regions, and information you
feel appropriate to the project. This project is due on December 4.
Opening Paragraph
This paragraph should be an overall description of the area you have selected for your
project. If for example, you had selected Columbia, MO, you might state: Columbia, Missouri Topographic
Quadrangle is a fairly highly populated area in central Missouri. This map contains the city of Columbia, Mo
and surrounding rural lands. Columbia is centrally located in the state of Missouri. It is approximately
125 miles from St. Louis and 125 miles from Kansas City. etc..........

Profile A will cross the high point of your map and Profile B will cross the low point of your map.
