Complex mazes of curving streets often occur in small hilly areas within grid cities. These enclaves attracted people with above average incomes and a willingness to trade convenience for privacy. Dead end streets and confusing miztures of names (e.g. Buena Vista Avenue, Vista Road, Sunny Knoll Avenue, Sunny Knoll Place, Sunny Knoll Vista....you get the idea) are some of the strategies used to "keep outsiders out". |
